Introduction

Great reliability, average comfort, low cost to operate. I like the overdrive feature a lot.

Why the 2001 Toyota RAV4?

Front seat room

Not super comfortable, tolerable. No lumbar support. Leg room somewhat restricted side to side.

Past personal experience

My first significant trek with the RAV4 was shortly after getting it and involved a 14 hour drive during a major snow storm. We received 24 inches of snow in 24 hours and I was driving during 14 of the peak storm hours. The trip was unavoidable and I was able to make the drive without getting stuck in the snow, but some things underneath began making noises that weren't previously there. It's reliably operated without the only repairs being brakes/rotors and battery since then.

Quietness

Its pretty loud. It developed a few new noises after driving it through a severe snowstorm. The new noises started in 2010, just after I got the vehicle and never developed into anything except noise.

Why Not the 2001 Toyota RAV4?

Ride smoothness

passengers lean with sharper corners and the bumps are felt.
