Why the 2007 Audi A3?

Fuel economy

While the 2.0T has power to spare, it can also achieve excellent economy when driven lightly. I average 26 mpg/city with spirited driving, and I hit 32 mpg/highway easily (36+ mpg when babying it). The DSG transmission is more efficient than a manual too!

Materials & workmanship

Anything Audi is extremely well engineered. The interior is very comfortable and well laid out. All body and drivetrain parts seem very solid. Audi galvanizes the whole body before painting, so rust will never be a problem (hence 12 year rust warranty).

Brand reputation & image

Audi is well known for their engineering prowess, and that was a big plus for me. They may not be the best-knwon luxury make, but they are making a big push in the U.S. market for brand awareness. At the dealer, customer treatment is extraordinary!

Why Not the 2007 Audi A3?

Price or payments

The A3 is not priced too competitively. It is much less expensive than a BMW 1 series, but still high for a compact/hatchback. Well equipped it is nearly as much as an A4. A loaded VW GTI (same chassis/drivetrain) costs much less, but insurance is higher.
