2dr Coupe 140-horsepower 2.0L I4 5-speed manual FWD

Why the 2008 Ford Focus?

Audio & nav systems

SYNC is easy to use and integrates flawlessly with my phone. Voice commands just work, rarely have to repeat myself.

Price or payments

Price was so low it was almost a concern.

Feature availability

Once again, this car had SYNC, nothing else I drove did. Power windows / locks / mirrors / keyless were also nice, but you will find this in any competing car.

Fuel economy

There are better and worse than the Focus, but the car does well with the 5-speed manual. I've seen 38 mpg on a tank of gas with lots of highway driving.

Handling

Not as good as the Mazda 3, but it feels a little sporty to drive.

Why Not the 2008 Ford Focus?

Safety & braking

Spongy brakes! I've asked to have the brakes checked on a few occasions, but apparently that's just how they are.

Interior styling

It's a bit cheap, and the '08 is missing a few things, like rear seat head rests and a dome light. Not to mention the "outside temp" and "compass" LED screens are there but non-functional.

Exterior styling

The coupe looks a little awkward with it's tiny wheels and sedan-like roof.

Materials & workmanship

Passenger seat rattles if the backrest is too straight and a bit of plastic around the defroster vent is warped. The steering wheel button labels are wearing off as well.

Ride smoothness

SES model can be a bit rough over bumps.
