Reviewed: 2008 GMC Acadia

4dr SUV 275-horsepower 3.6L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD

Why the 2008 GMC Acadia?

Rear seat room & comfort

There are very few SUVs that can seat 7 VERY comfortably that are not HUGE suburban type SUVs. We are very pleased that the 3rd row can truly seat 3 adults with no issues. I love that I can still load it up at Costco by folding the 3rd seat down!

Safety & braking

Great safety ratings! Beat the Honda Pilot!

Front seat support & comfort

Love how comfy it is-- heated seats, (though I would have loved the 2009 A/C seats on my 2008-- boo hoo!), all the controls-- love the music controls on the steering wheel.

Audio & nav systems

That my kids can listen to their DVD on the wireless headphones while DH and I listen to XM! No more "Finding Nemo" for 6 hours straight!

Feature availability

Too many to list-- it seems they thought of everything--- heated windshield wipers, remote start for cold (or hot!) days, power lift gate, folding flat seats (DH and son went camping with friends and lied them down, put in a blow up mattress!)

Why Not the 2008 GMC Acadia?

Fuel economy

We bought the AWD for safety, but still get only 15-18 mpg. Not horrible, but certainly not great.

Color choices

We would have loved to see a charcoal grey. The carbon we got is really a sparkly black-- we would have loved something a bit lighter. We would have loved to see a camel colored leather for the interior too.

Brand reputation & image

The reputation sucks. We love the car, but keep wondering if we were crazy to not get our usual Honda/Toyota/BMW.
