Why the 2008 Subaru Outback?

Cargo capacity

I am always carrying display equipment for work. Very quick to load and unload.

Safety & braking

Reported crash worthiness and air bag array was impressive. I will replace the pads for better grip and modulation.

Reliability & durability

Rated #3 by Consumers. First car to have no service problems at all in the first 7 months to date.

Fuel economy

It takes regular gas. Mileage is better than my previous Volvo.

Feature availability

Heated wiper glass. Heated leather seats. Power driver seat.

Why Not the 2008 Subaru Outback?

Ride smoothness

Upgraded the rear sway bar for improved steering & responsiveness.

Audio & nav systems

Very inconvenient to marry the auto climate control board to the audio board as well. I have totally bypassed the stock audio installation and installed my own.

Powertrain performance

Somewhat clunky automatic transmission. Engine is a bit wheezy when passing.

Controls and instruments

Door pockets too narrow. Audible turn signal chime is too muted. Armrest is too short. Too easy to activated heated seats. LCD clock & information display is often illegible due to glare.

Rear seat room & comfort

Footroom too short.
