An asterisk (*) marks results based on small sample sizes.
General NotesModels and statistics marked with an asterisk (*) have very low sample sizes. These results, visible only to logged-in members, provide only a rough estimate of car reliability.Any result under 20 repair trips per 100 cars is likely a result of the small sample size, and should be expected to increase to 20 or so in future updates.
New models often start out with high repair rates, and then improve as the manufacturer identifies and addresses common problems. MethodologyOnly successfully completed repairs are currently included in the analysis. Routine maintenance, most wear items, recalls, and problems fixed with just a reflash or warning light reset are not included.

| 2002 | 4dr Sedan 125-horsepower 1.8L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
I have 375000 km, and the car keep on going strong. The only problems I had was water pump at 60000 , AirCon bearing at 250000, O2 sensor at 300000 and timing chain cover gasket leak at 370000. I can feel engine is getting old, but still running smooth. |
| 2002 | 4dr Sedan 125-horsepower 1.8L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
This was the third Corolla I owned myself and the fourth I drove regularly. I am terrible about regular maintenance but I never had a serious problem. The only repairs necessary were normal wear and tear and even those were much later than expected. |

| 2010 | 4dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
Had lots of wear on car and recent Toyota reliability reports made it risky to buy a Toyota even though I had reliable Toyota for years. Might buy one again when their are stable reliablity trend. |
| 2009 | 4dr Sedan 132-horsepower 1.8L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
I am concerned about the EPS and the new engine design. Although some have disliked the EPS, the jury is still out for me. Plus, will it be reliable long-term? Also, I have read about some oil consumption problems. Hmm ... |
