Introduction

Ride, power, handling - this baby has it!

Why the 2020 Toyota RAV4?

Powertrain performance

I am amazed at the precision of response when you touch the accelerator. Perfectly linear and smooth. Plenty of zip which surprised me. Fun to drive.

Handling

The ride is tight yet amazingly smooth.

Interior styling

The interior is very nice in appearance. Sadly they have tried to make it more like a cockpit, the seats are very comfortable but the overall feel is more tight. Entry to the vehicle requires more bending and adjusting to get in because there is no extra room. The console is large and limits your movement - it isn't exactly uncomfortable but it isn't a plus. The bask seat is comfortable and roomy unless you have the tallest guy in the front.

Front seat support & comfort

Seats are comfortable but the cockpit seems designed to enfold you and while there is plenty of dose it doesn't feel roomy. The console is over large.

Feature availability

I was surprised that the Limited trim I bought didn't include a powered passenger seat, power folding mirrors, and one touch window controls around.

Why Not the 2020 Toyota RAV4?

Controls and instruments

The adaptive cruise control is amazing. You can follow a car too a full stop and start again without doing a thing - very nice, especially in heavy traffic. The general control work well. Since most things are controlled through the touch screen it would be nice if the user has more control over what elements are displayed over what portion of the screen!

Audio & nav systems

Audio and controls are great. The navigation system is clunky and worthless if you use CarPlay - you should be able to elect to eliminate it and save money.

Materials & workmanship

Sounds silly but my huge complaint is that the doors don't close. I don't mean you can't close them but they require either a constant pressure or a hard push. Every car I have ever owned if you started to close the door with any reasonable push it would complete with some built in hinge assistance. Not the Rav4. This was true of my 20 10 also.

Conclusion

This is not for those that need a lot of space to move things but it is a fabulous grocery getter with a bit of zip to make carr time fun - at a far better price than Lexus
