5000 mi   Fuel Gauge intermittently would read incorrectly empty when tank was full. Dealer determined that it was a faulty sending unit, and was replaced under warranty. 
31000 US $90 Check engine light came on. The dealer & found that it was the IMRC (Intake Manifold Runner Control) malfunctioning. No parts were required, just needed to be cleaned. Not covered under warranty - was over the 3 year bumper to bumper. 
44000   Noticed a strange whistle noise when shutting off the engine, then a week later the check engine light came on. Took it to the dealer who found out it was the turbo. Replaced under warranty.

35000 US $357 Several trouble codes, dealer ended up replacing entire intake manifold and intake/emission parts associated under warranty. Out of pocket cost would have been $1200 
38000   Car stopped running and needed to be restarted several times to complete trip home. At times car was only able to accelerate to 15 mph. Dealer reported car was sensing lean condition and needed to replace throttle body.

6000   Dealer could not replicate problem but said they had information that the main wireing harness may be faulty. VW AG would not replace this part so I was sent on my way with a car that stalls... 
  After multiple repair attempts (all three fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulator) my Jetta was in the shop for more days than NY state allows for a new car. I took VW to arbitration and won my case. VW is replacing my Jetta with a brand new car.

5000 mi   Sun visor replaced. 
7000   Door panel trim had a small bubble. I wanted to make note of it in case it enlarged, but the dealer wanted to replace it. 
10000   Clutch line was leaking and needed replacing. Replaced and repair was successful. 
12000   prior clutch line leak was not the source of a leak, rather a leak in the brake master cylinder seal. Part ordered. Brake master cylinder replaced, but after one week leak is still occurring. Will have investigated at next oil change interval. 
13500   Still a leak after October visits. 18 days and both driveshafts replaced, then transmission seal. 
15000   Leak was diagnosed as engine block.
