Head gasket replaced, left? side. Head gasket blew about 1 week after an home water pump repair where I forgot to top up the coolant after air bubbles flushed from engine. Drove the truck approximately 6 km with temperature gauge pegged. Just wanted to get home. Cylinder head was slightly warped by overheating but still in spec enough it didn't need resurfacing or replacement. Water pump was replaced. Noisy, kind of rattling noise, for maybe 12 months before the front seal on the shaft went spewing coolant everywhere, but it was a cold night so I drove it home (approximately 12 km). Lots of steam coming from under hood at that point, but I replaced water pump myself in my driveway, and seemed fine, except I missed one step which is always top up the coolant after you circulate it to push air out of system. |
