The repair shop removed carbon deposits from valves and cylinder head and replaced the timing belt. Engine now runs like new. Total cost $3500.

This oil near the dip stick made me think the engine was building internal pressure. After some internet research I realized the oil separator was failing. This is sort of what us old time mechanics call the PCV valve. On a regular car it would be $10. On the Audi Q5 the separator was $250. Ouch.

Took it to the dealer, they said that the cam shaft was loose. They replaced the cam shaft, timing chain tensioner, cam bridge. Still having same problem, but now some check engine code showed up. They looked at it again and found out that one of the cylinder had very low compression. They opened it up and saw piston/cylinder #1 was damaged, and suggested engine replacement. Repairs covered under extended warranty. I suspected that the tensioner cause the problem in the first place, but since it's a known problem with 2.0T engine with previous model years, but they don't want to admit it.

Dec 2012 31000 mi	Low oil light came on in error. Dealer replaced the latch under the hood, which had malfunctioned causing the light to stay on even after oil was topped off. Driver's door would not unlock with keyless entry. The key was working, not a battery problem. The car beeped and lights flashed in response to the button, but the door didn't unlock. The dealer ordered a part, but have not repaired yet.

May 2012 36800 mi	the FSI engine has that problem of carbon build-up over time, so every now and while the injectors need to be cleaned or replaced depending on what audi tech. department sees.
Jun 2013 51000 mi	the left lower control arm was squeaking and it had to be replaced.
Dec 2013 59000 mi	CEL came on and when scanned got a code P0638 ( Throttle Actuator Control Range). The mechanic told me that it's some kind of carbon that's building on throttle body. May need some cleaning but it runs fine.

Mar 2018 109000 mi US $375	Initially the right rear door lock/unlock was intermittent with handle touch & remote. Didn't take for repair, thought I might replace door unit myself. Later the Sat radio just disappeared from the MMI. Considered replacing the unit myself again but, after reading a bunch about others having a similar problem & the fact that it is located high & behind the glovebox as well as one person reported a software update on the MMI fixed his sat radio. So being in for final air recall I had the MMI software updated. That fixed both issues!
