Brake pedal was making a squeaking noise as you depressed the brake. Noise got louder in warmer temperatures and finally bothered me enough to have it looked at. Surprisingly, online research showed it had a TSB recall issued so I brought it in. Parts ordered during previous repair trip, installed during this one. When operating on gas engine (either with some electric range left or with none left), from a near or complete stop, accelerating will create a bang sound from the exhaust. From online searches, this appears to be an afterfire sound (similar to misfire or backfire, but happens in the exhaust). My dealer did a wonderful job troubleshooting and ruling out other causes of the bang but ultimately consulted GM engineer who claimed this was normal despite nearly all other 2016/2017 Volt and 2011-2015 Volt owners never experiencing this issue. After 20 mins of keeping it connected with the other car, still the battery didn't get enough charge to start the car. Car had to be towed. After 2 days at the dealership they charged the battery and returned the car. They spent a lot of time trying to find the root cause, but they had no clue why battery went dead. This is the 6th time in 2 years. Overall this is a shame because the main battery was fully charged! Such advanced car has LACKS the ability to start the system and move (and start charging the 12v battery) using the charge from that massive Lithium ion battery. Volt is really a spend car but I do not treat it as a reliable mode of transportation anymore. During winter there is a frost build-up on the interior side of sheet metal roof. When driving for a long ride, ice becomes to melt and water drains in OnStar buttons. When going in a heated parking, all ice melted. Find water on seats, A pillar, OnStar buttons, etc. The dealer told my wife that was caused by bad snow removal on rhe roof of the car. That was obviously wrong when dealer tested the roof and windshield and concludes there were water tight. GM Canada wrote me that this was caused by my Weathertec floor mats that retains water from snow melting. After, GM Canada told me that moisture and frost in the interior of the vehicle was because we were setting tbe climate control to "Auto". It takes 1 week before GM finally accepts to pay repairs under the warranty. Worrying about water and moisture going everywhere in this car, airbags, etc. we decide to sell it and purchase a Prius Prime that is equipex with a heat pump that eliminate very well interior moisture.

Jan 2016	Left Front CV joint boot flung grease inside the rim and wheel well. After further inspection at the dealer, the entire CV joint was replaced.

A software update was applied which changed the minimum state of charge for the vehicle so it does not go into reduced propulsion power mode. Aug 2015 13010 mi	Replaced key fobs, replaced batteries in key fobs. Replaced the Key fobs again, and reprogrammed the keys to the car. Replaced the Ignition key fob detection module. Car has left a puddle under the car that appears to be coolant, GM replaced the coolant return hose under warranty. GM looked at the issue and determined that the car was fine, upon further inspection from NTB the upper strut mounts are made from very cheap hard plastic and rattle under certain weather conditions. Steering feels tight while traveling in a straight line for a long period of time. GM indicted that the worm gears are missing teeth and that this will be repaired under a TSB.
Sep 2015 13075 mi	Car shorted out my home breaker, requiring an electrician be called to my home, in addition shorted out the home charger and the charge port. GM indicated there was a fault in the charger on the computer. Strong emissions smell in the car.. Also strong oil burning smell in car. Turned out to be a rotten exhaust replaced under warranty. Head gasket found to also be leaking and replaced under warranty. Replaced the full exhaust, muffler, pipes, cat, manifold, and gaskets, and still had smell..
May 2016 19000 mi	Steering worm gear was missing teeth. There is not only a TSB on this, but a class action lawsuit against GM on this issue.. This has been replaced 4 times this year. Rear wheel bearing making noise Rear hatch latch broken, so rear door would not close Passenger's side door did not open due to broken handle. Charge port door did not open replaced return spring Parking brake sticking, no return spring on the electric parking brake, as such the cable stretched and needed to be replaced.
