Forget economy and focus on "fuel". In order to produce the power from the small engine, it guzzles. OK, you can't have it all... see full Mini Countryman review

What Our Members Are Saying about the Real Gas Mileage of the Ford Excursion

Ford Excursion Real Gas Mileage: Pros
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2004 4dr SUV, ext. turbocharged 325hp 6.0L V8 Diesel
5-speed automatic RWD
This is a 6,200 pound vehicle that I need for my work. I need to haul long items and occassionally tow heavy trailers for work. It is a diesel and for 136,000 miles I have averaged 17.8 mpg. If this were gasoline powered I would be 8-10 mpg, or less. see full Ford Excursion review
Ford Excursion Real Gas Mileage: Cons
YearBody/PowertrainComment
2005 4dr SUV, ext. 310-horsepower 6.8L V10
4-speed automatic RWD
I know what it got. It is efficient for what it is. Compared to their smaller, less capable vehicles it gets "bad" mileage. However, for a 8K lbs truck with a non-aerodynamic design the average mileage of 13.5 (E10) is acceptable. see full Ford Excursion review
