Engine failed to start. It would not even crank. I managed to get it started, but all the warning lights were lit. The dealer pulled the following codes : P0700 and P0890. They replaced the TCM power relay for a new upgraded relay. Works fine but confidence in the car took a hit.

Jan 2019

Same as January 2018 repair : on a very cold day, car starts normally in the morning but fails to start after a short trip where the engine has not fully warmed. In fact the starter does not engage at all. The situation returned to normal after about 15 minutes. Dealer replaced the same relay as last year’s and he added some sort of thermal insulation to the relay. Relay part number is the same as last year’s. In other words, Subaru Canada does not really know how to fix the problem and they are improvising.

shifter replaced. Key would be unable to remove without moving the transmission selector lever from P to R repeatedly for up to 5 minutes. The transmission selector was repaired, a $750.00 repair. I had purchased the extended warranty on the car for fears about potential electrical components needing work, and a purely mechanical repair justified the extended waranty's purchase.

Wind noise at highway speed. Breezes in driver's compartment. Dealer applied the wind noise kit to both front doors. Breezes all but disappeared and car stays warm and comfortable for driver. Wind noise worse, but road noise reduced.

Wind noise on passenger door was fixed per Tech Service Bulletin in spring. Noise returned worse than before. Run channel replaced. Noise reduced a great deal. Starting to increase again. Wind noise on driver door has increased since repair in spring according to Tech Service Bulletin. Noise when driver window is initially lowered that started with this wind noise fix was found not to be "abnormal."
Apr 2017

25000 mi
Wind noise TSBs applied to both front doors. 61099AL01B for the second time to driver side. 61099AL00B for third time to passenger side. I had written a letter to the president of Subaru of America telling him how miserable driving the car on the highway was. I was contacted by a "Team Leader Customer Retailer Services." A Field Service Engineer drove my car and with some instrumentation determined that the noise level was only 2 decibels higher than a 2015 model. That was basically an admission that there is wind noise and SOA has some notion of what is "normal." And ridiculous! The application of the TSBs was the decision of the the dealer Customer Service Manager. I have nothing bad to say about the car, but the wind noise.
