On the highway with cruise control have managed to get about 30 mpg. In a mix of city and highway it gets 23 mpg. In city only it gets 18 mpg. Again, for AWD not bad, but not great. 2013	4dr SUV turbocharged 200hp 2.0L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD	Our Tiguan ranges from 20-30 mpg, between city and highway cruising. It's consistently about 5 mpg thirstier than the GTI. Blame the extra weight, but there's less than 400 lbs of that, IIRC. Or blame the AWD, but it's part-time only. I blame the large aero cross-section; it stands about a foot taller than a Golf. If VW would offer a TDI in the Tiguan, they'd sell as many as they could spare to the US market. I'd be standing in line. see full Volkswagen Tiguan review
