Kia Reliability and Durability: Pros
Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
2014 | 4dr SUV | While the car does not feel all that "solid", the car has been relible and durable see full Kia review |
2012 | 4dr SUV turbocharged 281hp 2.5L I4 8-speed automated manual AWD |
No issues so far at 30,000 miles. see full Kia review |
2011 | 4dr SUV turbocharged 281hp 2.5L I4 8-speed automated manual FWD |
Owned for 14 months and 15K miles with ZERO problems! No issues whatsoever! see full Kia review |
2011 | 4dr Hatch 147-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed shiftable CVT FWD |
Everything seems real easy to work on and replace. Looking under the hood, belts and parts are easy to get to. see full Kia review |
2010 | 4dr Hatch 161-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
5Star crash, 4Star rollover and a 10year 100k warrenty. Hyundai did wonders for KIA when they merged. The fit and finish have really come around in the past few years and greatly in the 2010 linups for both companies. Very responsive to customer needs. see full Kia review |
2010 | 4dr Hatch 152-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
The reviews I have read and the actual driving experience. see full Kia review |
2010 | 4dr Hatch 152-horsepower 2.0L I4 6-speed manual FWD |
When we bought this car in 2010, we were aware of Kia's dim reputation in the 1990s and their better -- but still "cheap" -- reputation in the 2000s. But it seemed like Kia was advancing quickly. And so they have. In the five-plus years we've owned the car, it has been recalled four times. None of the recalls stranded us and one even was proactive (added rustproofing). The car has received routine maintenance. And that's been about it. It has been quite troublefree. And, so far, it doesn't look like we'll need to claim on the one remaining warranty -- the anti-corrosion warranty. It's only six years, but the car still looks good. All in all, we gambled on getting a bargain and we won. We definitely would consider another Kia for our next vehicle. see full Kia review |
2010 | 2dr Coupe 187-horsepower 2.5L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
love the warranty and company reputation in recent years see full Kia review |
2008 | 4dr Hatch 138-horsepower 2.0L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
All of my Kia vehicles, past and present, have had both individual and combined repair rates lower than any other brand of vehicle I have ever owned. see full Kia review |
2008 | 4dr SUV turbocharged 134hp 2.0L I4 Diesel 6-speed manual AWD |
My previous Kia was totally reliable. The Sportage has the same engine & gearbox and many common fittings so I am hoping for the same (it has positive consumer reviews). The interior is designed for work with a well lined cargo area. see full Kia review |
Kia Reliability and Durability: Cons
Year | Body/Powertrain | Comment |
2013 | 0 | This has been the worst car I have ever owned for needing maitenance and repairs. Shocked and dissappointed. see full Kia review |
2012 | 4dr SUV turbocharged 240hp 2.0L I4 6-speed shiftable automatic AWD |
Remains to be seen. Kia motors is on it's way up and I still think it could go either way as far as durability and reliability are concerned. see full Kia review |
2010 | 4dr Sedan 148-horsepower 1.8L I4 4-speed automatic FWD |
Some owners have reported getting transmissions replaced after a few as 600 miles. A little too risky for my taste! Others noted squeaking interior plastics and miscellaneous rattles in other components very early in the life of the car. see full Kia review |
2008 | 4dr Sedan 264-horsepower 3.8L V6 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
i bought this car new back in december,2008,and absolutely loved it,to say the least.shortly after this time, maybe 2 weeks,i noticed the ride quality had started to change, and keeps getting worse.also, several issues with interior rattles. see full Kia review |
2008 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 276-horsepower 3.3L V6 8-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Had problems with two side door locks. Repaired under warranty. see full Kia review |
2007 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 276-horsepower 3.3L V6 8-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Actually not bad but long term reliability is still questionable. Repair prices and parts are much harder to find in my area. see full Kia review |
2006 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 276-horsepower 3.3L V6 8-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Had some problems with computer. Dealers are not very competent. see full Kia review |
2006 | 4dr Minivan, ext. 276-horsepower 3.3L V6 8-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Published reliability survey information shows the 2006 Sedona (first year of the re-design) already to be below average. Mine has developed a rattle and squeek at the rear seats and wall panel area. Not too bad, but notice it more than before. see full Kia review |
2005 | 4dr Sedan 264-horsepower 3.8L V6 5-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Sudden acceleration and hesitation see full Kia review |
