Pretty basic search, I guess. Just looking for a car with really good cost-to-own per year, taking into account Fuel (18k miles a year, for us), insurance, maintenance and repairs, and depreciation. (Or replace depreciation with a similar metric representing increased repair costs year over year, since I'm fine holding...
4 responses   Something to use for uber, really high city mpg, 4door sedan/hatch, 2009-2014, Private party <= 10k, manual/rwd would be a plus
Member6570

I'm considering driving for uber and would like something that gets high city mpg. The roads in my city can be pretty rough, so rwd orsomething tough and durable would be a plus. I like to drive manual. I prefer smaller>larger vehicles as well, if a 4 seater miata existed,...

Want to be able to drive friends places (want a 4-door!) but also carry music gear (thus the desire for a hatch). Will also be my daily commuter - my commute is 40 minutes and I'm nearly 6'3". I would rather not drive an automatic - love driving smaller-feeling cars with...

47 male. 55 mile RT commute. Manual transmission very strongly preferred. I am a "keeper." My first and so-far-only new car was operated by me for 15 years. I've had a crap box I hate for five years. I don't like buttons and novelty in small cars. I would like...

I am starting a new job tomorrow that will involve driving 50+ miles a day. I have a Lexus SUV that gets 18-20mpg. My husband has a Jetta TDI that is manual and he does not commute as much as I will be.

I would rather not drive...

Hi there - I am a mess. I have been shopping for 18mo, on & off. Always go back to Ford Edge. Hoping for 2011-13, but budget is saying prev. generation. My SUV HAS to have a sun/moonroof, so that hugely affects cost. Seat 5, but 7 would be a...

honda crv seems to be perfect, but the ones I have found have 200K + miles. Rav 4s are scarce and not cheap either. Ideas? Is 200K OK for something I would not be using as a 1st car?

I looked at all brands of trucks, hatchbacks, pickups, wagons and SUVs. It is easier to say that I want minimal plastic and electronics, no internet, computer or RF sending devices, simple radio, low enough to ground for people with small stature, automatic transmission, good 360 visibility of surroundings, good...

Looking to replace a 97 Civic that was rear-ended badly (rear seats pushed into front seats...glad it was just me in the car). It was a great, reliable car with 312k miles with normal maintenance (and lots of torn CV boots). Fun to drive, good handling (mild suspension work and...

Looking to buy my first car! I'm on a shoestring first-job budget too, but happily have enough saved to buy outright (with help from family). My main concerns are reliability and lifetime cost-to-own, specifically maintinence/repair costs, and to a lesser extent MPG. I'm hoping to find a car that'll last...

I've looked at the Honda crv, the Toyota rav4, Chevy equinox, and the Ford Escape. I have family telling me the Ford Escape is a "throw away" car, and they all are anti imports, but I want a car that will last. I hate shopping for new vehicals. I have...

Sit me in a cushy seat that moves comfortably on the road and I'll be happy.

1. I've test driven the Mitsubishi Outlander and didn't like it. Too slow and very uncomfortable driving position. Not on my list anymore.

2. I've test driven the Nissan Rogue. I like the look inside and out but am not sold on the CVT. For what I've seen around...

Just looking for a vehicle to take my family camping, while hauling a trailer, maybe a pop-up trailer. Something with decent gas mileage, and can hold a family of 6. I have been looking at Chevy sliverados and Ford f150s. Added bonus would be something that would not break the...

Current thinking is between a lightly used C-Class, 3 series or A4; or should I just buy an Accord Touring or perhapps a Mazda 6. I have had an Accord for 10+ years so I really would like to step up from that class.

Our 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was rear ended and totaled. The Jeep didn't look too bad other than the bumper cover, but the frame rails were unfortunately bent. It was driven by our au pair for our two girls. Liked that it was 4WD, roomy, built like a tank and...
