Since you say the bike won't fit in the Mazda5 and Escape, you want it to fit without folding the second row seat?
The Taurus does have one of the largest trunks you can get in a sedan. Maybe the largest.
Another sedan you might check out is the 2013+ Chevrolet Impala. Slightly smaller trunk, but still a lot of room back there. Reviewers generally feel it drives much better than the Taurus.
I'm drawing a blank on which crossovers or vans might have a lot of room behind the second row, get at least 27 on the highway, and cost at most $25,000 when a year old. I am a bit surprised the Mazda5 couldn't hold the bike with the third row folded.
