Do I get another Tauras? Near 200k miles on my third tauras and need adult seating for 5, decent highway mileage (27mpg+), and room for my road bicycle in the back when the front wheel is off, also a 1 year Tauras with limited mileage has been $20k. That's a consistently good deal for me. The Mazda 5/ Ford Escape can't fit the bike. A SuperCrew would be perfect, but the mileage doesn't work. Your ideas please!

Priorities: Fuel economy / Quietness / Front seat support & comfort / Rear seat room & comfort / Cargo capacity

Primary Driver(s): Tall driver

Need minimum of 5 seats

Will consider both new and used cars

Since you say the bike won't fit in the Mazda5 and Escape, you want it to fit without folding the second row seat?

The Taurus does have one of the largest trunks you can get in a sedan. Maybe the largest.

Another sedan you might check out is the 2013+ Chevrolet Impala. Slightly smaller trunk, but still a lot of room back there. Reviewers generally feel it drives much better than the Taurus.

I'm drawing a blank on which crossovers or vans might have a lot of room behind the second row, get at least 27 on the highway, and cost at most $25,000 when a year old. I am a bit surprised the Mazda5 couldn't hold the bike with the third row folded.

My mistake, I meant the Mazda CX-5. Yes need the the 2nd row, plus enough room in the back.

Thanks, it's looking like another Tauras.

The Outback is the only remaining affordable midsize station wagon, and more likely to be able to fit a bike than a compact SUV.

VW Jetta SportWagen might also work. Last affordable compact station wagon. Last year for the larger Passat wagon was 2010.

Mazda5 probably has enough space, but doesn't have the latest styling or powertrain tech. It's essentially a compact minivan.

The outback is too small. Soon will check the Honda Crosstour. I've found used with low-miles in my price range.

Went to the dealership and the Crosstour hatch/trunk is too small for the bike.

Back to the Tauras as the best option.
