The Right Car for Me | TrueDelta

Member5367

I am looking for a quick, reliable car with room for a couple of suitcases. I am avoiding cheap, plasticky materials. I dislike torque steer. I'd love a cheaper and less finicky version of my A6 4.2... I take long trips winter and summer along the Pacific North West.
I'd consider a WRX, but I have a nasty commute, so no manual. I cringe at the idea of a CVT. Mazda6 looks nice, but it's on the weak side, and loud - and FWD.
Would a Legacy wagon work? Too weak, and 7 years old...?
S7 would be great if I wasn't paying. I do have Audi price fatigue.
For someone who loves cars, I am oddly at a loss. I'd appreciate any help to clear the fog.

Did you intend to include minivan among the body styles?

Is RWD okay, or AWD is strongly preferred?

I don't find the Legacy GT weak, but the wagons are old at this point. And old Subarus can be finicky.

Some possibilities:

Infinti G37 -- interior not nice enough? Or too compact?

Infiniti EX37 -- essentially a tall G hatchback, but too tight inside? FX is larger, but probably too massive

Infiniti M37, M56 -- larger than G37 and with a nicer interior, V8 available, 2011 M56s are available in your price range; glitchy first year or two for the 2011s, but they've been reliable lately

Acura TL SH-AWD -- not pretty enough? Or interior not nice enough?

No true hatchbacks or wagons here, because no powerful, reliable, luxurious ones are available for $30,000.
