Porsche Macan

Special and SUV is kind of an oxymoron. You could get a Macan, but you will probably pay thru the nose for it as the cars are very popular. On the other hand, you could look at the VW Toureg which is, to a large extent, a re-badged Porsche Cayenne. Could probably get a loaded Toureg and still not hit your mamimum price which is not going to happen with the Macan

So you want a high-performance SUV?

The Audi SQ5 and Mercedes GLC43AMG are both worth a look, as is the Jaguar F-Pace.

They're all nice vehicles, with slightly different strengths and weaknesses. Audi is very well-rounded, Mercedes feels super-solid going down the road and the F-Pace is the looker, though the interior quality was a huge let-down for me.

The Macan is a great car as long as you don't need the "utility" part of the Sport-Utility equation. It's cramped inside, and has very little actual cargo space. Then again, it drives like a Porsche, which is always a good thing...

I purchased an SQ5 as our dog was not comfortable in the Macan due to the slope of the rear window. My daughter has a Macan S. Having spent a lot of time in both, I believe you would be happy with either. They are sporty to drive, have decent accelleration (0-60 in the 5 second range), and have comfortable seats. The Macan is a bit more expensive ("everything" is an option) and the SQ5 feels a bit larger but both are great cars to drive. Neither of us have had any issues with our cars.
