I own a Mazda CX-9 and I love it!

It has alot of power, handles like a car (front end is essentially a Mazda 6) and with the AWD feature, handles ice/snow and rain with no problems.

Gas mileage isn't great but all the other things about it make it a great vehicle.

Knock on wood, I only had one recall item (front end linkage assembly) and only have done routine maintenance on it.

Good luck on your search!

Style is in the eye of the beholder. How does the Toyota Highlander look to you? Among midsize SUVs it's the most reliable.

My sister is currently considering the dramatically styled Nissan Murano, but the current one isn't looking good in our reliability survey lately.

The 2015 and up Ford Edge has been about average in reliability. The 2016 Kia Sorento has been worse than average, but seems to be improving.

If a compact will do--they might be larger than you realize--the Mazda CX-5 has been reliable and very popular with our members. The redesigned-for-2016 CX-9 drives very nicely, but it's too new to tell if it will be reliable, or to fall within your price range.

Under $30,000 slip under the radar in style with a a Traverse that seats 8, if you like muscular precedes the eight passenger Acadia, or the elegant Enclave with 8 sets also.
