I've been driving a Pontiac Vibe for almost 10 years. My first was a 2003 from 2005 to 20013, until I hit a deer. My second was 20013 to 2015, when I hit another vehicle. I'd planned to replace with another Vibe, but I happened across a Prius and think maybe I can make that work. Looking for considerations (besides the battery) to keep in mind when I'm looking.

They're very reliable cars. The batteries sometimes need replacing once over 120k, but some last over twice that. It's apparently also possible to replace individual cells, and even if it is the entire pack the prices aren't too bad. It probably helps that they've sold so many of them.

Our Prius has had no battery problems, we're at 199,000 miles. We've recommended it to friends because of the excellent reliability and room both for passengers and cargo. Several friends have bought one. After my brother had one for a few months, his wife sold their minivan and bought a second Prius! This brother has replaced some of the individual cells in one car's battery, it was not expensive. None of the others I know of (at least six) have had battery problems. Our next car will be a Prius.
