The stylish, fuel-efficient, and reliable Mazda CX-5 is probably your best bet.

The upcoming, redesigned-for-2017 Honda CR-V will probably be a better all-around vehicle than the Mazda. My concern is that it is all-new, so there could be some glitches. Dealers will still have 2016s at this point. I don't care for their styling, but you might like it. Dealers could be discounting them since the 2017s aren't far off.

Most of the light duty cuv's like CR-V, CX-5, and RAV4, do not allow full power to rear wheels. For under $30,000 discounted on here or cars.com, you can get a 2017 Buick Envision Essence or Preferred with Twin Clutch AWD that can send power to a s I ngle wheel that has traffic when the others do not. It will also be one of the quietest suvs under $30,000 and is not based on a lesser suv like some that are gussied up with content to $35,000!
