Honda CRV- not enough luxury & was not able to test drive since all vehicles on the lot were sold. Worried not enough power. subaru outback and forester- not enough luxury, couldn't test drive, worried about not enough power. toyota RAV- too small and couldn't get light colored interior, toyota forerunner-too big and looked like a military vehicle, toyota highlander, too big, looked like a military vehicle and couldn't get a light colored exterior with a light colored interior. Kia, not reliable according to reports. BMW X-5- currently own a '05 but repairs are every expensive. Please suggest a vehicle for me. I need help. I live in Hawaii on an outer island. Choices are limited here and not always able to test drive since most of the cars on the lot that I want have already been sold. Can look but not test drive. Seems all the new cars have black or dark interiors and I want a light colored exterior and a light colered interior. Sales people all want to sell me a black interior. I also want good visability, quiet ride and luxury.

Lexus is coming out with the NX this fall. It should be more luxurious and powerful than the RAV4 but also quite a bit more money I would suggest the Acura RDX and the Ford Escape Tituanium are worth a look which I am going to try this week. Lexus RX350 is too big and the Nissan Rogue is raspy and seats are uncomfortable. I find the Honda CRV has too choppy a ride. However I was impressed with the Nissan Rogue's ride which is not firm. Enjoy your search!

I just bought a Lincoln MKC - light interior! It's gorgeous and I love it so far!

Good suggestions above. I haven't had a chance to drive the Lexus NX or Lincoln MKC yet. Either is about the size of the CR-V and should offer the color combination and luxury you're looking for. I don't like the exterior styling of the NX, but that's a matter of personal taste.

The Acura RDX is available with white / parchment and medium red / parchment combinations. It's a good all-around vehicle.

A fourth option could be the Buick Encore. It's smaller (and much less expensive) than the other three, which could be a positive or a negative depending on your personal needs and tastes. Power could be a larger issue--it's also considerably less powerful than the others. But worth a look.

As mentioned above, the Ford Escape might also be sufficiently luxurious.

If you're looking for something more luxurious/upscale, take a look at the following-

Acura RDX

Audi Q5

Volvo XC60

The Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60 both drive well. Gayla loved the latter when we had one with a white leather interior for a week. But I only recommend these to people who won't have the car for more than a few years or who will be okay with a fairly expensive repair once every year or two after the warranty runs out. They're like the BMW this way.

If you can find a Nissan Murano in your colors, I think you'll be happy with it. You might be able to get a good deal since the body style is changing for 2015. Reasonably reliable per consumer reports, and hopefully good Nissan service in Kona. Close in size to your X5.

What about the Mazda CX-5? Your only option for a light exterior with light interior color combo would be the Crystal White Pearl with Sand (Beige) Leather, but I think that combo looks very upscale. A 2015 CX-5 Grand Touring AWD with Technology Package in that color combo has an MSRP of $31,675 and it's pretty darn loaded. It also handles great and has more than enough power for most drivers. Definitely worth a look!

A friend of ours just bought a GMC Terrain. Very reasonable pricing (<$40K) and more luxurious interior than the BMW. There is a Light Titanium interior color option in the LT-2 trim that is very attractive. The V6 engine is probably preferable if you're accustomed to the BMW.
