Have been looking at 2006-2008 BMW 3 series, 2004-2008 BMW 5 series, 2006-2008 Audi A4s, and 2006-2008 Acura TLs. Like the feel of the BMW the best.

You could also consider the Infinity G35/G37 series. They favorably compared to the 3-Series in reviews I have read. They have a very good record for reliability and have a very sporty driving experience. They are available with a manual transmission if you desire. The gas mileage is not as good as the 3-Series, though. The car is very comforable and well equipped with luxury features.

I'd get the newest 3 you can get within your budget. If you don't need the power of the 335i, a 328i could be more reliable.

Personally, I'd look for one with the Sport Package, to get well-bolstered seats and a slightly firmer suspension. But your tastes could differ here.

Unless you need the additional space of the 5, I wouldn't spend the additional cost of buying and then maintaining one (it's a more complex car).

The 2006-2008 TL is an attractive car, but doesn't handle like a BMW.
