looking for a fuel efficient, comfortable car with some carrying capacity. Recent retiree who had driven and loved my '07 Camry hybrid. Just not enough room in trunk.

If you want another hybrid, the Ford C-MAX is worth a look. If you fold the back seat there should be plenty of cargo capacity. If you need a lot of cargo capacity without folding the rear seat, it might not work as well.

It's quieter than the Prius and handles quite a bit better. Ride is Euro-firm, but steady. I really liked driving it.

Reliability is the downside. They started off iffy, partly because of a common problem with the latch for the optional power tailgate, and have improved once the initial issues were out of the way. But they could get worse again.

Among sedans the current Nissan Altima probably has the cushiest ride, and perhaps also the best fuel economy among non-hybrids. But reliability continues to be a sore spot with the 2013, the first model year of the current design. Members report transmission vibrations, rattles, and problems with the seat heaters. The 2014 could be much better--no repairs reported for it yet, but only nine participants (so far) and very early.

The Accord would be the safest choice. The 2013+ is quite good, and few people have ever regretted buying one. But some other cars in the segment, including the Altima and Ford Fusion (also worth a look), are quieter.

I would check out a PRIUS wagon or sedan since you already are familiar with Toyota and both cars have the rear seats fold down. More fuel effiecent and more trunk space and not much more money than Camry
