smallish crossover, not too expensive

The Right Car for Me | TrueDelta

I'm replacing my 2014 Chevy Captiva Sport. I like the size, height, and room for hauling stuff. I hate the underpowered engine and general sensation of driving a a thirsty, noisy tin can.

Ease of entrance is important. Due to various physical ailments. low types like sedans are bad. Good sightlines are important (e.g. compare and contrast to an HHR). Better mileage than 21 MPG on the eco setting (looking at you, Captiva) is a must.

I'm open to plug-in hybrids but not all electric.

The fewer touch screen controls, the better. My fingers are sometimes too cold to work a cell phone screen.

I'm so sick of RAV4s and CRVs all over the place.

Priorities: Front seat support & comfort / Reliability & durability / Fuel economy

Need minimum of 4 seats

Will consider both new and used cars
Maximum age: 3 years

Maximum price: US $ 40000

Just bought my very first brand new car in my fifties. 2024 Crosstrek Limited. I came from Rav4's and Camrys. I love the compact size, utility, style and affordability. A mid range model with oand heated (cloth) seats will be in the 27K price range. I got my top of the range discounted $5000 even though I had planned on a lesser model. It's good for shorter folks who want to use the roof rack for kayaks, etc. I did look at a Toyota Corolla Cross but the ergonomics didn't fit me. Good luck with your search.
