The Right Car for Me | TrueDelta

Member6108

The car must have a 5 star NHTSA rating in each test, be reliable in the long term, and handle well/ be fun to drive. Straight-line speed is not incredibly important, as long as the car is not slow. The car cannot be a subcompact, crossover, van, SUV, or pickup. So far we (my family and I) have looked at the 2014 Mazda6 Touring and 2014 Honda Accord Coupe. We liked both of them, but seeing as the Mazda is brand new we don't know how reliable it will be in the long term, and the only way to get a 4-cylinder Accord Coupe with an integrated navigation system is with a CVT, which I am not a fan of. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for your help!

You can get a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) 2012-2013 Acura TSX w/ Technology Package (NAV, Premium Audio) for under $30k. The ones I found in my area had no more than 16k miles on them. You would also have the choice between the Sedan and Sport Wagon body styles. They handle great, they're quick (if not all-out fast) and they are exceptionally well-built and reliable.

FYI, the Acura CPO program adds 1-year/12k miles to the Limited Warranty (for a total of 5-years/62k miles from new) and the Powertrain Warranty extends to 7-years/100k miles from the car's original in-service date when new.

As much as I like the Accord (and I've owned four of them over the last 24 years), I was very disappointed when Honda introduced the 2013 4-cylinder models with a CVT instead of a conventional automatic. I despise CVTs- period! BUT if the CVT is the onlly thing holding you back from getting the Accord, there is a solution. By your comment about NAV, I'm assuming that you want integrated Navigation. The Accord EX-L V6 Coupe w/ NAV & AT stickers for $33,190 but the pricing sites (TrueCar, KBB) both show that it can be bought for just under $30k. You get almost an extra 100hp, 6-speed Automatic Transmission with Sport Mode & Paddle Shifters, 18" Alloy Wheels, LED Daytime Running Lights and several other extras with the V6. Despite the huge boost in power and performance, fuell economy ratings remain at 21mpg city and 32mpg highway!

Finally, if you love the Mazda6 and the only thing holding you back is concern about reliability, I say take the plulnge!!! It's a goregous car with tons of features for the money and they drive almost as good as they look. To be honest, I got bored with Honda in the mid 00s and made the jump to Mazda in late 2005. I've had a 2006 Mazda3 and currently have a 2012 CX-9 GT and 2014 Mazda6 Grand Touring! I love it!

Good luck!
