Pontiac Vibe I am trying to avoid unreliable cars that is why I only list o e American car. Will consider older cars up to 12 years old with low mileage Newer or older won't look for anything with much more than 60 K miles. Suggestions?

I think you should look for a used Accord or Civic. I say the accord because it has more space, but they are both very reliable cars. I own a civic and haven't had a single issue for the past 4 years. Gas mileage on the highway is in the upper 30's and around the city is between 28 and 30mpg.

Thanks! I truly appreciate you taking time to respond. I think it's atoss up between Honda and Toyota the only way I had consider other brands is I find an extra clean car at a reasonable price

Yeah, it just comes down to style preferences. hondas seem to have more viability and a more "open" and spacious feel inside, but that's just my opinion. Either way you go you'll get a great car, just make sure to see service records and a carfax!

You might want to considera 2007-2008 Prius. You will have to go up on your minimum miles, but these vehicles are extremely reliable and last 200,000 to 300,000 miles. Plus you get 44+ MPG. I have two (a 2004 and a 2010) and have been very pleased with them. Do a little more research if this intrigues you.

Corolla, Matrix, or Vibe. They've all used the same simple engine and transmission for a decade, so all the kinks are worked out, and these things just keep going and going as long as you change oil and tranny fluid. If they do break down, the engine is super easy to service. The only knock against these cars is that they only have a four-speed auto, while competitors have 6 speed auto. So fuel economy is good, but not as great as newer cars.

Former 2006 Matrix owner here, it was declared a total loss today, but it could have kept going for years. They just don't quit. Sad to see it go.

I have no experience with Hondas since I'm too tall to drive any of their vehicles, but I fit in the Matrix just fine.

Hello guys

Thanks for all your input, I truly appreciate it. However I just got an offer I could not refuse. I have been researching for some time hoping to find a low mileage used car with great reliability for around 9000 and the offer i saw I just could not pass up. It so happens in my research I had come accross the Mitsubishi Miraget which I knew from way back when I had one back in the 80s, (great car by the way) and at that time, and even recently, Consumer Reports did have them as very reliable. Well I guess they are not really large sellers because truedelta does not list their frequency of repair. I had ignored the car and was all set on looking for the Hpmda Fit, or Civic and either the Yaris or the Corolla or perhaps, if i could get a low mileage one, a Mazda 2. However, it so happens that Mitsubishi came out with 3500 rebate on the Mirage and together with another offer I qualified for I was getting 4000 off list!! Still i wanted to more info (am anal about car reliability) and I looked up every possible review on these. What i found out was that the professional reviews on them were real bad as, far as performance anyway, but all the owners, well over 85% of them anyway, loved it. So I went out and rented one and drove it for almost a week and guess what? I now have a new car for my wife! I will keep you guys posted on the reliability and durability of the Mirage, but I already can tell you two things its a blast to drive if you like 40miles per gallon plus, great maneuverability and parking on a dime. Sure its not a race car or even a four with pop, like the Kia Forte my wife leased, but it keeps up nicely with traffic and fits the way my wife drives The other thing I know is that you can beat this deal! How about a Brand new car (26 miles on the odometer) for $8995! Just can't beat that price! If any of you are inthe market hurry up the rebate ends on 5/2.

Thanks
Ron
