New luxury car

The Right Car for Me | TrueDelta

Member3819

My wife recently convinced me that we need to build a house on the outskirts of town. I told her, "if we do this I'm going to get a really nice car -- because I'm going to be in it a lot." The commute to work after the move will be about 35k each way, five days a week.

So, I am looking for a delightful luxurious car that I can enjoy riding in for all that distance. Open to either a new vehicle or something a few years old. I am hoping the maintenance costs will be reasonable. Basically I am looking for something that handles really nicely, has a great interior with a rgeat sound system, and that is safe and reliable. Price range is $60k to $70k.

A few options:

a4/s4/s5
3 series or 5 series (or used 7 series?)
c class or e class (or used s class?)
Hyundai equus
Some sort of Porsche?
Others?

I will add that I currently own a Lexus and it's been a great car but I haven't been happy with the dealership in my area so I am not considering another Lexus.

Priorities: Handling / Reliability & durability / Interior styling / Driving position & visibility / Audio & nav systems

Preferred Bodystyle(s): Coupe / Sedan

Car Needs: Daily commuter / Fun toy

Primary Driver(s): Tall driver

Need minimum of 2 seats

Will consider both new and used cars
Maximum mileage: 48000
Maximum age: 4 years

Maximum price: C $ 70000

Porsche Cayman would make you smile and a BMW 435i would also be nice but the maintenance costs could be an issue. If you can get a long term maintenance package when you purchase that could alleviate those concerns.

Cadillac CTS-V coupe or sedan...just try not to get arrested on your commute home.

First, I'd somehow try to avoid the commute :)

But I guess all efforts there have failed.

It sounds like you have no need for a large car, and prioritize handling, so I wouldn't go larger than the 3/C/etc. Which would also mean spending well under that cap.

Any need for a rear seat?

For reliability I'd suggest a Lexus IS, but you ruled out Lexus.

Cadillac ATS is a strong candidate, generally considered the best-handling car in that segment. But long-term reliability is unknown.

Volvo S60 doesn't have the best handling, but it's pretty good, plus great seats and audio. Reliability could depend on how long you keep it.

I'm personally not crazy about how the current A4 and 3 handle. And the C-Class least of all. But impressions will differ.

I'd go drive everything in that class, and see what you like the best.
