My 16 year old musician son is needing a small-midsize SUV or wagonfor getting to/from school and gigs. He plays gigs instead of working in fast food... His ideal is probably a Honda Element or something similar. He needs to be able tohaul 2-3 guitars, maybe a couple amps and a stand or two.He'd also like to take it camping/hiking every now and then.

What is important is safety/reliability, fuel mileage >16, and repair cost if something does go wrong.

Deal breakers: dealer only oil changes (vw), expensive parts for minor repairs,
