The short answer is, yes you should be fine with an '0X 200k mile crv or rav4 if youre not putting on a lot of miles. Maybe a Honda Element would be good too. The long answer is that you might be even better off with something older, cooler and generally stock that will appreciate in value. The obvious vehicles for this strategy are more sporty/smaller than the a crv/rav4 (think Acura integras, Honda preludes, Toyota Supras, Nissan 240sx) but maybe you could do OK with something like an old Jeep, a Suzuki Samurai, a VW Bus, Civic wagon, something like that. It would obviously take more effort and probably maintenance $, but you could come out ahead in the long run because your vehicle should gain value.
