Have a 2009 Sienna, which is great for ride and cargo capacity. Want something sportier but that still has cargo capacity and reliability

Do you need three rows of seats?

If not, then Toyota created the Venza to provide what you're looking for.

If you do need three rows, then the Mazda CX-9 is about as sporty as large crossovers get.

The 2011-2013 Dodge Durango rides and drives very well, but it's somewhat more likely to require repairs.

Among minivans, the new Kia Sedona is the sportiest, but since it's only 2015 on it'll be out of your price range and its long-term reliability is unknown.

I agree that the CX-9 would be a great vehicle to look into as far as having the same abilities of your Sienna as well as being a bit more sporty (aka not a minivan). A Durango is a decent second choice, it's def not as reliable, and the gas mileage will not be your friend. In my opinion if you're looking for a like replacement to your Sienna a CX-9 would be great, however there is the hot hatch segment you can look into. I know it said you were taller, but it never hurts to shop around. The Focus ST is a fun sport hot hatch I had the pleasure of driving, and one that gives you a decent return on the MPG. However the cockpit can feel a little fighter jet like and a bit tight, you may like that. The GTI/Golf TDI (sans the Diesel recall) is also another fun car I was able to drive and enjoy. It doesn't feel as tight as a Focus ST, but its reliability would leave a bit to be desired from what I've read. That being said, I agree with MKaresh with the CX-9, and feel that it would be a good fit for what you're looking for. A used one can easily be found in your budget.

If you don't need a vehicle nearly as large as the Sienna, but want an all-wheel-drive crossover, the Forester XT is very quick. I don't find it nearly as sporty as the Focus ST, VW GTI, or Subaru WRX (available before 2015 as a hatchback), but compared to the Sienna it counts as sporty.

Other sporty compact crossovers (which all have fairly roomy backseats) include the Mazda CX-5 (reasonably quick with the 2.5-liter engine) and Volkswagen Tiguan (the 2009 has a high repair frequency, but from 2010 on they're pretty good so far).
