Jeep Reliability

You won't find Jeep reliability information like this anywhere else. Actual repair frequencies, not just vague dots. So you can tell how much the Jeep truly differs from competing car models in reliability.

These stats are promptly updated four times a year, to much more closely track Jeep reliability as the cars age. Others tell you how reliable the Jeep was a year ago, when the cars were a year younger and had 12,000 fewer miles on them. Only TrueDelta tells you how reliable the Jeep has been recently.

2018 4dr SUV 180-horsepower 2.4L I4
9-speed automatic AWD
Except for a minor issue with the Psuh Button Start Module, the Renegade has been well behaved and only has seen the dealer for oil changes. To the extent of hard service I put the Renegade through, using it for Rideshare with Uber it has not had a single issue. This includes below freezing to triple digit tempuatures. It has seen so far around 8,000 miles of Rideshare service. The motor is strong, despite it being a 2.4L 4-Banger, and having had to haul luggage and passengers with it, the Renegade has not complained. see full Jeep review
2011 4dr SUV 360-horsepower 5.7L V8
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD w/low range
The bad.. Both the front brakes and rear brakes caught fire before the wear sensor was hit. The water pump fragmented and took out the radiator. The plastic gears for the vents broke. Almost all the lights, including headlights have been replaced. The transmission is a little too relaxed about shifting. Car lugs at 45mph if you don't give it gas. Seats have rips The goid: Lots of torque Roomy and comfortable. Rear seats fold down pretty flat for good loading space. see full Jeep review
2009 4dr SUV 172-horsepower 2.4L I4
6-speed shiftable CVT AWD
bulletproof reliability, never had a single problem. the same with all guys who own one. minor problems - yes, read about this on forums, but mostly - the most reliable vehicle from jeep lineup. see full Jeep review
2009 4dr SUV 202-horsepower 3.8L V6
4-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
I know that I can go anywhere at anytime with this car. It fires up, handles well in rain, sleet, snow, ice, dry, on road and off. see full Jeep review
2008 2dr SUV 202-horsepower 3.8L V6
4-speed automatic 4WD, part-time w/low range
HUGE disappointment! TERRIBLE construction. WORST fit and finish. My Jeep Wranglers soft top roof leaked from the start. I blew THOUSANDS of dollars over four years of ownership trying to get Jeep dealership to repair the problem. No luck. Always got the run around. At one point, Jeep repair even admitted '...of course it leaks. It's a Wrangler.' Every time it rained, I'd have half an inch of water on the floor, and dashboard soaked. Seats were like sponges. I was tired of the Jeep bullsh*t and sold it off with 30k miles. Heartbreaking. Wranglers are fun, but very very unreliable and breathtaking how POORLY built they are. Don't waste your money. see full Jeep review

I simply like the fact that they have a history of being reliable. I’m not basing that on any study or any collection of stats that I’ve seen. I’m just basing it on my experience and the experience of my Jeep friends. see full Jeep review

2017 4dr SUV 184-horsepower 2.4L I4
9-speed shiftable automatic FWD
Now ive had it for 3 years and 44500 miles, here are my minor quality issues: Since Ive had it, Id say maybe 5 times there has been a transmission jump. Say when you roll up to a stop sign and accelerate. 1000 miles: passenger grab handle pulls down easily, like its not screwed in properly 5000 miles: random low windshield washer fluid light came on 6000 miles: front right plastic grill insert pops out, noticed it when parked in garage 12500 miles: front brake starts squeaking when cold 13650 miles: traction light comes on for a few seconds (dry conditions, driving straight) 15000 miles: short squeak when panoroof opens 18000 miles: cloth wrapping the A pillars have small tears 36500 miles: front right clip?? in sunshade drags in roof cover is opening, it will snap back in place though when done moving 40000 miles: panoroof starts rattling when open (very minor sound...notice it when you make yourself listen to it when radio is off) 42300 miles: dash message appears to service shifter, goes away after car is parked and started again see full Jeep review
2012 4dr SUV 290-horsepower 3.6L V6

I bought this vehicle brand new straight from the dealers show room its been seven months now and done only 4500 miles but I had to take it twice to the dealer for coolant leakage and water pump issues. see full Jeep review
2012 4dr SUV 360-horsepower 5.7L V8
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD w/low range
Air suspension was problematic and took over a month at the dealer and 4 visits to finally get fixed. Also had problems with the radio and the memory settings getting wiped out. Occassional electric gremlins. see full Jeep review
2012 4dr SUV 360-horsepower 5.7L V8
5-speed shiftable automatic AWD w/low range
With all the good things to say, one drawback I have is with some of the components that have failed so far. With only 46,000 kilometers (less than 30,000 miles) on it, it has had one front shock absorber fail, the water pump fail, a small engine coolant leak and three factory recall notices. As a retired mechanic, I realize with all the complicated equipment in today's vehicles, some items are bound to fail, but as this vehicle has not seen any offroad activity nor been driven hard, I am a little disappionted with all the repairs that it has needed. With that said, I STILL love my Jeep and think it is still better than its competition. see full Jeep review

As I said this is our fourth Jeep and one must be prepared for poor reliability. Chrysler does not seem to be able to build a reliable vehicle. I don't know if it is poor quality control, poor parts supplier, poor training of assembly line workers see full Jeep review
2010 2dr SUV 202-horsepower 3.8L V6
6-speed manual 4WD, part-time w/low range
At 18,000 miles the differential started leaking and the clock spring failed requiring a major repair. I drive mainly highway miles in nice weather. see full Jeep review
2010 4dr SUV 172-horsepower 2.4L I4
CVT AWD w/low range
I was left stranded 200 miles away from home when I could not get the car out of park and had to have it towed. The car was practically brand new. It took a week to get the car repaired. Chrysler fixed the car at no cost but I had to pay to have someone take me home and then back to pick up the car. Many rear suspension parts had to be replaced with only 45,000 KM (27500 miles) on the car. see full Jeep review
2009 4dr SUV 172-horsepower 2.4L I4
