The Right Car for Me | TrueDelta

Member6315

I love my luxury cars. My first was a 1994 cadillac eldorado, then a 1998 buick park avenue, and now i drive a 1984 cadillac eldorado. I need something that I can call upon customers and drive onto carlots to do my job. I am getting a second car because i need one that is reliable. My current eldorado is slowley turning into a money pit. Flywheel. Starter. Starter. Starter. Starter. Alternator. Water pump. Fuel pump. ect ect. that being said, comfort, space and looks are very important to me. I love that eldorado because it is sexy as hell. But my lord its slow and expensive to maintain. I am 22 and i have been driving something almost my whole life. So size is not an issue. The bigger the better. I had been thinking about a 06 cadillac dts or a 01 lexus Ls 430. But I am not sure. I just moved to tenesee and i dont have alot of money right now so im looking to spend around 12,000 at the absolute most. But my ideal price range is in the 8,000 to 10,000 range. So a used vehicle is the only option right now. I like cars with alot of space on the inside. I want to be comefortable. I need a car that looks good. For me old vehicles look the best but i just cant get an old cadillac that's reliable. I like the way that 01 lexus and 06 caddy look like. something along those lines. Speed is not an issue for me. I dont care if it is slow or now. I just want to be able to make it up hills without my car struggling like my current eldorado does. Needless to say. I am pretty hell bent on either that lexus or that dts. But i dont know what one would be a better investment or if there is a better vehicle out there to fit my needs and i just dont know about it. thanks!

For truly old cars, a Lexus LS is about as reliable as they get. The problem is that you have to get one that's quite old to stay within your limit.

We don't have much information on the reliability of the DTS, and the bit we do have--for the 2006--suggests a repair frequency higher than average, but not awful. 2006 was the first model year.

Others worth a look include the Infiniti M35, Hyundai Genesis, and Chrysler 300. Most M35s in your price range will be the 2006s, a first model year like the DTS, with a reliability stat about the same as a result. If you can find a 2007 at a decent price, it's likely to be more reliable than a 2006. Styling is a bit bland, but the M is roomy and drives well.

You can get a newer car with the other two, the Hyundai Genesis and Chrysler 300. So even though their reliability is probably similar to a DTS of the same age, they'll be younger. With the Genesis, avoid the package that includes the power tilt and telescoping wheel and nav, as many reported repairs involve features in this package.
