April incentives

This month I’ll take a few notes as I update TrueDelta’s incentive information…

GM has eliminated the bonus cash and zero interest financing it placed on many models in March. In some cases the standard rebate has been increased, but not enough to compensate. So overall its incentives are down. You’ll find rebates on two new Saturns with a lot of positive buzz, the Aura and the Outlook.

Hummer is an exception. The H2 has $5,000 on the hood, the H3 $3,500, including bonus cash. The rebates on any leftover 2006s are even larger. These are the trucks that carried no rebates back when GM was giving just about everything else away.

A couple years ago the HEMI was hot. This year, if you buy a large Chrysler car with the large V8, you get a larger rebate, $2,500 instead of $1,500. Chrysler dealers receive additional incentives if they hit their sales goals, so great deals are possible on many of its vehicles.

A Chrysler-Jeep dealership I visited yesterday had a couple 2006s in the showroom. A 300C SRT8 was marked down over $10,000, while a PT Cruiser GT convertible was marked down over $8,500. I’ve heard of similar discounts on many other Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep models.

No big rebates on the new Sebring sedan yet, just $750. But if you want zero percent financing, it’s got that.

At Ford, the main change is longer maximum terms for the zero percent loans available on many models. Also, rebates appear to have been pulled from the Montego and Grand Marquis. If so, expect sales of those models to tank.

At Toyota, the incentives inched up on a few models. The Prius gets discounted option packages.
