Early returns to this month’s survey

The initial email for this month’s survey went out Thursday afternoon. So far the response rate is a couple points below normal, but this could be because of the July 4th holiday.

Even so, over 1,500 responses came in in the first 48 hours. This is about half the expected total for the month.

I have just taken a first look at the raw data. In general, repair rates are about where they were last time, though where there have been changes they tend to be improvements. Since the period covered is the year ending June 30, 2007, any early teething issues experienced by 2006 models early in the model year are now out of the survey period, so they no longer affect the results.

I’m especially interested in the number of models TrueDelta will be able to report results for this time around. Last time TrueDelta had “official” results for 33 models and asterisked results for 32 others. If not a single other response came in this month, we’d be able to report official results for 40 models and asterisked results for 36 others.

But we do expect another 1,500 responses, and hopefully more than that.

My best guess: in a few weeks TrueDelta will have official results for 48 models, and asterisked results for 48 others.

Stay tuned. I’ll post an update a couple days after next week’s follow-up email.
